Families impacted by the fatal CMCSS school bus crash are speaking out, saying theyβre still facing overwhelming unpaid medical bills months after the tragedy.
According to the families, some medical expenses have exceeded $200,000, and they say their repeated requests for help have gone unanswered.
During the School Board meeting, emotions ran high as several family members called for CMCSS Director of Schools Dr. Jean Luna-Vedder to resign, saying they believe district leadership has failed them and that accountability is long overdue.
Among those speaking out was Adam Ellithorpe, who announced he is running for the CMCSS School Board in 2028. Ellithorpe, whose family has also been in the public spotlight following the former teacher misconduct case involving his daughter, voiced support for the bus crash families and called for greater accountability and transparency from district leadership.
The families say they will continue pushing for answers until meaningful action is taken.
